Ukraine Overview: US Warns China Against Arms Deliveries, Ukraine Expects Airstrikes

According to US information, China is considering arms sales to Russia. Ukraine expects up to 100 airstrikes on anniversary of invasion. That was the day.

China is considering supplying arms to support Russia in its war against Ukraine, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken said. Any delivery of arms and ammunition to Moscow would cause "serious problems," Blinken warned on CBS television.

So far, China has been careful "not to cross this line," according to US officials. According to his ministry, at the Munich Security Conference, Blinken warned China's highest-ranking foreign politician, Wang Yi, of "consequences" if Beijing provides Russia with "material support" in the Ukraine war or helps to circumvent Western sanctions.

Up to 100 rocket attacks expected on anniversary of invasion

As the anniversary of Russia's invasion of Ukraine approaches, Russia could launch up to 100 missile attacks on Ukraine. Fedir Venislavskyi, a member of the National Security Council of Ukraine, said in an interview with the state news agency Ukrinform. He expects Russia to attack with missiles, drones and fighter jets on February 22, 23 and 24.

According to Ukrainian information, Russia has recently attacked nine regions. These were in the immediate vicinity and further away from the front in the east. According to the information,  several people were seriously injured . On Sunday morning there were air alarms again in many places.

Other events of the day:

Ukrainian authorities report several dead and wounded after Russian shelling. According to this, three adults in a family were killed by Russian artillery fire in the Cherson region in southern Ukraine.

British intelligence reports several balloons over Ukraine. The Ukrainian military sighted several such flying objects over Kiev on February 15  and shot down at least six.

Because Ukraine needs a lot of ammunition, the EU is  working on a new procurement process. This was confirmed by EU foreign policy chief Josep Borrell at the Munich Security Conference.

Ukraine exports less grain despite the agreement brokered by the United Nations. The joint coordination center in Istanbul said food exports from three Ukrainian ports  fell to 3 million in January from 3.7 million tons in December.

The chairman of the Munich Security Conference, Christoph Heusgen, draws a positive balance. "We have more stamina than Vladimir Putin," he said at the end of the conference.

Chechen ruler Ramzan Kadyrov has announced that he intends to set up his own mercenary group based on the Wagner group.

Members of the Ukrainian parliament have announced that they will boycott the Parliamentary Assembly of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE)  because of Russia's participation.

According to the French Defense Ministry, France will start delivering light battle tanks to Ukraine in the coming days. The  training of Ukrainian soldiers on AMX-10 armored personnel carriers is "close to completion".
