Russian Foreign Ministry speaks out against nuclear war

The Russian Foreign Ministry has declared that it wants to prevent a nuclear war. The risks of a nuclear war should be kept to a minimum, a ministry official said, according to the Russian agency Tass.

In particular, any armed conflict between nuclear powers must be prevented, Vladimir Yermakov, head of the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Division, is quoted as saying. Russia follows the agreements of the nuclear powers represented in the UN Security Council to prevent a nuclear war.

Russian President Vladimir Putin has in connection with the war against Ukrainerepeatedly threatened to use the country's nuclear weapons.

France announces further military aid

French President Emmanuel Macron has promised his Ukrainian counterpart Volodymyr Zelenskyy further military and humanitarian support in a telephone call. Russia is apparently making slower progress than expected with its latest offensive in eastern Ukraine. The British Ministry of Defense reports that Russia must gather and regroup its troops in eastern Ukraine. The situation in the Azov steelworks in Mariupol, where 2,500 soldiers and 1,000 civilians are said to be staying, remains unclear.

Russia Wants To Secede
