India's war frenzy out of control, approval to buy 389 billion defense equipment

India's defense ministry has approved the purchase of military equipment worth Rs 389 billion

According to a foreign news agency, the Defense Equipment Acquisition Committee, chaired by Indian Defense Minister Rajnath Singh, has procured Russian-made fighter jets, missile systems and radar worth Rs 389 billion.

After the council's approval, India will buy 33 new fighter jets, including 21 MiG-29 fighter jets from Russia and 12 SU-30MKIs locally. It also approved a proposal to improve the existing 59 MiG-29 aircraft in the Indian Air Force.

Indian Defense Ministry officials say more than Rs 74 billion will be spent on upgrading the MiG-29 fleet and purchasing new aircraft. Similarly, more than Rs 107 billion will be spent on the purchase of 12 new SU-Thirty MKIs from India Aeronautics Limited.

In addition, the Pinaka missile system is being procured to provide long-range missiles to the Indian Air Force and Navy.

It may be recalled that in 2016, India had signed an agreement with France to purchase 36 modern Rafale fighter jets.

According to Indian media, six of these Rafale aircraft will be handed over to India by this month. The opposition in India had questioned the role of Prime Minister Modi and his close Indian investor Anil Ambani in the deal.

It is pertinent to mention that India's aggressive intentions have increased since the death of 20 soldiers in clashes with the Chinese army in the Galwan Valley of Ladakh and the retreat in the border area. India's provocation on the LOC adjacent to Pakistan and atrocities in occupied Kashmir are also on the rise.

According to experts, the approval of such a large sum of money for military equipment in these circumstances is very clear about India's future intentions.
