Insurance payments do not count

Originally, the property managers would want to sue the airlines even at $ 8.4 billion. The judge reduced the amount but on a third. This is the sum that the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey had the owner of the building and the real estate company agreed only weeks before the attacks as the price for 99 years lease. However, Judge Alvin Hellerstein concluded not with the reasoning of the airlines that the owners of the building had already been compensated by insurance and therefore there can be no longer eligible. The operators of the destroyed building complex had several, including German insurance already received compensation of nearly $ 4.1 billion. On 11 September 2001 Al-Qaeda members who had been kidnapped four aircraft, which they let one fall into the Pentagon in Washington. Another fell in the battle of the passengers from the kidnappers. The first two hijacked aircraft - American Airlines Flight 11 and United Airlines Flight 175 - were driven into the twin towers of the World Trade Center and brought it crashing down. Nearly 3,000 people died in the rubble, which made all of Manhattan to the crisis area.
