Japan buys his subjects the disputed islands with China

The Tokyo government has pledged to buy their own private Japanese Sea islands disputed with China to Beijing, according to media reports in the country. The move could increase tension between the two major economic powers in Asia. The tiny islands , known as Senkaku in Japan and Diaoyu in China, has long been a source of friction between the two countries. Although they are uninhabited, are surrounded by fishing areas and potential gas fields. Tokyo will pay for the islands (in reality, little more than islands) 2,050 million yen, about 20.7 million euros and the owners will sign the agreement soon, according to the newspapers published Wednesday Asahi and Yomiuri . The plan will be approved in a cabinet that will meet in mid-September. The Chinese government, through the official Xinhua news agency has considered buying "a farce", and has framed the "flood of provocative actions" launched by Japan "to reaffirm its self sovereignty over the islands, which have resulted in decisions a significant escalation of tensions between the two heavyweights of Asia ". Last month the Japanese coast guard detained several Chinese activists who landed on the islands with their country flags from Hong Kong. Days later, a group of Japanese nationalists did the same. The conflict over these islands is part of a broader territorial dispute in the South Sea and East China between the Beijing government and U.S. regional allies such as Japan and the Philippines. On Tuesday, China warned Washington not to meddle in disputes, matching the calm message sent by Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, on his arrival in Beijing.
