At least 40 people have died and more than forty injured this morning in a brutal attack on a mosque in the city of Maymana in Faryab province in northern Afghanistan, officials said. The house of worship was crowded because today we celebrate the Islamic festival of sacrifice in Afghanistan, and a large number of worshipers had come to pray. Some of the casualties are police and Afghan secret services, and among the wounded would find himself provincial police chief and Governor of Faryab, but not seriously injured. Faryab is a province which borders on the north of Badghis, where the bulk of the intended Spanish contingent in Afghanistan. In September,Norwegian troops who had been deployed in Faryab since 2005, withdrew from the province and since then security has deteriorated at top speed in a few weeks. Faryab destabilization could affect Badghis. The attack occurred at half past nine, two hours less on the Peninsula. Some witnesses explained that the suicide bomber was wearing a belt with explosives detonated at the end of the sentenceFour controls of Afghan police guarded the entrance of the mosque and it is unknown how the terrorist could circumvent the police cordon and enter the hall. The vice governor of Faryab, Abdul Satar Barez , justified himself insurgent wearing a police uniform and that this could cause confusion. The insurgency has been used on many occasions this year the strategy to infiltrate the Afghan security forces, both the army and the police, posing as soldiers or agents. In fact, now that it has become the main threat of international troops. Just yesterday, the Taliban leader, Mullah Mohammad Omar , called for his militia to "increase" their infiltration into the Afghan forces with the aim of attacking foreign troops deployed in Afghanistan.
