Selenskyj asks for fighter planes when visiting Sweden

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy is visiting Sweden with his wife. There he campaigned for the delivery of combat aircraft. The Swedish model Saab JAS 39 Gripen is the pride of its hosts, Zelenskyy said at a press conference with Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson, adding: "I believe that the Prime Minister should share this pride with Ukraine." Zelenskyi said Ukraine lacked modern combat aircraft and was inferior in aerial combat to the invading Russian forces. Appropriate steps would be taken in the coming weeks to "open up the possibility of procuring the appropriate aircraft."

He will also negotiate with other states in the coming days. As Zelenskyi announced, talks should not only take place with the Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson, but also with representatives of the parliamentary parties and the royal family. It should be about a possible defense alliance and the EU integration of the country.

According to Russian information, a military aircraft was damaged in a drone attack on a military airfield in the Novgorod region northwest of Moscow. Drone attacks are also said to have taken place in the Russian regions of Belgorod and Moscow.

According to Ukraine, it was able to largely fend off an attack by Russian drones. A total of 17 Iranian Shahed 136/131 drones were used in the attack on regions across the country, the Air Force said. 15 of them could be shot down.

New details have emerged after a detonation on the Crimean Bridge last October. In an interview, Ukrainian intelligence chief Vasyl Malyuk said he and two collaborators had been planning the operation since the spring. 21 tons of a hexogen mixture were used for the explosion.
