Russia-Ukraine Conflict: Ukraine Overview || Volodymyr Zelenskyj Wants ESC In Ukraine, More Fighting In The East

After the victory of the Kalush Orchestra, the President wants to host the Eurovision Song Contest in Ukraine. Fierce fighting continued in Donbass.

The Kalush Orchestra won the Eurovision Song Contest (ESC) in Turin, President Volodymyr Zelenskyj showed determination to fulfill the obligations as host country. "Next year Ukraine will host Eurovision!" Zelenskyy wrote on Telegram that night. Selenskyj also referred to the band's appeal to the ESC to save the port city of Mariupol, which was besieged by Russian troops. "We are doing everything so that one day Ukraine's Mariupol will welcome Eurovision participants and guests. Free, peaceful, rebuilt!" he wrote.

In an interview, Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba expressed skepticism about a possible ceasefire with Russia. "There's nothing bad about a ceasefire if it's the first step towards a solution where Ukrainian territory is liberated," Kuleba told Bild TV. "However, we will not reconcile the fact that there is a partial separation of territory. We are ready for diplomacy, but we will not allow diplomacy to simply prolong our suffering and simply postpone the next phase of the war," said Kuleba. He has called on the people of Germany to consider the  consequences of the sanctionsto take against Russia. "Sometimes it's better to help someone else and endure a short period of deprivation rather than sitting at home watching TV and doing nothing, just allowing the problem to eventually knock on your door," Kuleba said.
