Afghanistan || Hundreds Of Afghan Security Forces Surrender To The Taliban | They are Unstoppable

Hundreds of Afghan security forces surrendered to the Taliban near the city of Kunduz. Soldiers, police officers and fighters surrendered to the Taliban "with their military equipment", said Amruddin Wali, a member of the Kunduz provincial council. The Islamists now have control of nine provincial capitals. Most recently they captured the city of Faisabad in northern Afghanistan and captured a large military base in Kunduz province. According to officials, this is the base of the 217th Corps.

Faisabad is located in the Badachschan province, where Bundeswehr soldiers were stationed until 2012. Fierce fighting has been going on in Mazar-i-Sharif for days. A capture would be a hard blow to the government in Kabul. The capital has not yet been directly affected by the Taliban offensive. According to media reports, US intelligence services assume that Kabul could fall into the hands of the Taliban much sooner than previously assumed. That could happen in 30 to 90 days, the Washington Post reported.

The border is also controlled

The Taliban are also said to have taken control of the border with the northern neighbors Uzbekistan and Tajikistan. Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu told the Kommersant newspaper that they had promised not to cross the borders.

The US armed forces are expected to leave the country by the end of August. US President Joe Biden said the Afghans now have to "fight for their own state". Their armed forces are militarily superior to the Taliban, also in terms of troop strength. "But they must also want to fight." The US would continue to support the Afghan security forces financially and militarily, the president said. According to Biden's spokeswoman, the draft budget includes $ 3.3 billion for the next year.
