Saudi Arabia blocks Viber

The Saudi authority that regulates telecommunications has decided to block in the country's service Viber IP telephony, with more than 200 million users worldwide. As reported by the Saudi journalist Ahmed Al Omran on his blog, the Commission for Communications and Information Technology (CITC, by its initials in English) has decided blonquear this service "as of June 5, 2013, as it does not currently meet with regulatory requirements and laws of Saudi Arabia." This is another attempt to control any application facilitates the ability to communicate using encrypted messages or Voice over IP (VoIP), difficult to control. Al Omran says that in March the CITC asked Internet providers mobile phone how to control encrypted messaging and VoIP applications such as Viber, Skype and WhatsApp, with the warning to block those services if such control was not possible.
