ASIA | Environmental Control Network The Chinese government launched a plan to combat pollution by 2015


The Chinese Government has announced a plan to curb pollution, which has become a serious problem for the Asian giant, which will be implemented in 2015 , as reported by Xinhua news agency. The plan focuses on soil contamination , so that orders to conduct a comprehensive study of terrestrial conditions, especially in growing areas and aquifersBased on the conclusions drawn from such studies, also mandates createa network of environmental monitoring covering at least 60% of the acreage and aquifers. In addition, the plan includes measures to prevent , so it is among its priorities the control of soils that are currently free of pollution. The head of the Hubei Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of China, Zhou Yikai, explained that the country has a big problem of land contamination due mainly to the increasingly widespread use ofpesticides and chemical fertilizers, mining and industry . In studies that have been conducted on heavy metal pollution, the results show the loss of ten million tons of grain annually and 12 contaminated , resulting in economic losses of 20.000 billion yuan(2,385 million euros ) annually.
