A suicide attack left 22 policemen dead in a police station in Yemen

Some 22 people have died today in Yemen and dozens injured in a suicide bombing at the police academy in Sana'a, as reported by police who believe that the attack "bears the mark of Al Qaeda." The attack occurred at the entrance to the academy where the cadets left the building to start their weekly rest. The bomber was inside a taxi when he detonated the explosive charge in front of the south gate of the academy, according to a source said security service Agence France Presse. Several ambulances have been deployed to the scene to treat the wounded and collect the bodies of the victims. Security forces have established a security cordon around the bomb site. The attack took place near the spot where, on May 21, another suicide bomber killed a hundred people during a military parade preparing to celebrate the anniversary of the unification of Yemen. Ansar al-Sharia (Islamic law defenders), branch of Al Qaeda in Yemen, had claimed the attack in May. The authorities pursue the terrorists of Al Qaeda, who were expelled from their main strongholds in the province of Abyan, south of the country, after a Yemeni army offensive that lasted a month.
