U.S l Obama pressure Congress calls for gun control

"If there is anything we can do if we can save a life, we have an obligation to try," said the president reiterating a phrase that had delivered the day of the inauguration of his second term. We must ask Congress to do something and do it soon , "he urged. Obama said he spoke with references of different communities and added that "everyone thinks it is necessary to take measures to reduce gun violence . " In that regard, noted the success of Minneapolis to implement policies similar to those he proposes. "Progress is possible," he added. The president chose that city for the first act on the issue out of Washington for a series of efforts has helped  curb violence  in one state,  Minnesota , where hunting culture is strong. "The vast majority of Americans, even those who have guns are there for greater controls for arms purchases. We must take more guns off the streets and in the hands of people that want to use for evil "he said. Given the uncertainty of the fate that will have their proposals on Capitol Hill, Barack Obama sought in his visit to the Special Operations Center Minneapolis Police Department , to gather public support for the law enforcement community and their arms control projectThe president called on the public to pressure Congress needed reforms in possession of weapons is an urgent vote. "There were many talks, many debates in Washington but no action was taken to stop gun violence," he said. "Change is never easy. The only way we manage to stop gun violence is that Americans decide it is important to do so. need everyone to press their state lawmakers . Tell him he can not wait for a new Newtown "he said. "If there is a way that we can so that families do not feel the loss of a parent or a child, we are obliged to give it. No magic solutions but we can make a difference , "he said. Minnesota is emblematic of the challenges that Obama will find to promote gun control .While both government senators say sympathize with measures to curb gun violence, theNational Rifle Association supported them during his election campaign, as he did with the four Republicans who represent the state in Congress. On January 16, the president proposed criminal background checks on all gun sales, including private purchases , the  ban on so-called "assault weapons" and the limit of 10 ammunition magazines. The efforts to control firearms face a tough political debate against strong advocacy groups and holding a long American tradition of hunters and gun owners. The right to bear arms is a constitutional right for Americans.
