Iran Announces Increase In Uranium Enrichment, 3 Major European Countries Worried

Three major European countries have expressed concern over Iran's announcement of an increase in uranium enrichment.

A joint statement issued by France, Germany and the United Kingdom said,

We have worked tirelessly to maintain the nuclear deal with Iran, which is an important achievement for multilateral diplomacy and nuclear non-proliferation

The statement said that the agreement, in the belief that it would boost confidence in Iran's nuclear program, was the best way to monitor and curb Iran's nuclear program. There is concern over the recent law passed by Parliament.

The trilateral statement said Iran's announcement violates the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) agreement, adding that the implementation of the new Iranian law would significantly expand Iran's nuclear program and lead to global Monitoring and access to the Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) will also be limited.

The joint statement said that Iran's actions were not in line with the nuclear deal and Iran's commitments, and that Iran should refrain from such actions.

It is believed that this statement from the three European countries came at a time when the founder of Iran's nuclear program, scientist Mohsen Fakhrizada, was shot dead in Tehran on November 27 last month, after which the Iranian parliament last week Iran has approved a bill to reduce inspections of nuclear facilities for increasing uranium enrichment and not easing sanctions by the international community, which has also been approved by Iran's Guardian Council.

What was agreed in the nuclear deal?

In July 2015, under a nuclear deal with six world powers, including the European Union, the United States, Britain, France, Germany, Russia and China, Iran agreed to use nuclear reactors as fuel. It will limit the stockpile of enriched uranium used in the manufacture of weapons for 15 years, while gradually reducing the number of centrifuges used for uranium enrichment over a period of 10 years.

In return for accepting all these conditions, the economic sanctions imposed on Iran by the United Nations, the United States and the European Union were lifted.

US President Donald Trump announced his withdrawal from the nuclear deal in 2018, while newly elected US President Joe Biden has signaled his rejoining the deal. It can be difficult to get back.
