At least six people have been killed and 28 others are still missing after a groundbreaking hotel building dedicated to the quarantine of Corona virus patients in the Chinese city of Kunzhou.

A total of 71 people were found in a five-storey Shenzia hotel building in southern Fujian province, dozens of whom have been evacuated, while rescue workers are searching for more people in the wreckage.

It is not yet known why the building collapsed. The incident took place at 7.30pm local time on Saturday.

Chinese state media say the building was being used to facilitate quarantine monitoring of patients exposed to the Corona virus. The hotel opened in 2018 and has 80 guest rooms.

Speaking to Beijing News, a woman said that her relatives, including her sister, were in Quarantina in the building.

He said that he himself was in another hotel being used for quarantine.

According to the latest Fujian data on Friday, there were 296 cases of Corona virus in the province, while more than ten thousand people were under surveillance.
