German Chancellor Angela Merkel and Brazilian President Dilma Rousseff, are the first and second most powerful woman in the world, according to the new list compiled by Forbes magazine with the 100 most powerful women. For the third year, Merkel again occupies first place in the list of the publication, which has published its ranking on Wednesday. "It is the backbone of the European Union and loads the fate of the euro on their backs," says the magazine. Rousseff is in second place, after two consecutive years in the third.'Forbes' highlights the "emphasis on entrepreneurship" that the president has developed , creating "a new generation of enterprise", despite criticism by "favoring pro-development policies over humanitarian concerns." Former U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has slipped to number five from the second position after leaving office in January as head of U.S. diplomacy. In the third place is Melinda Gates , wife of billionaire Bill Gates, followed by the first lady, Michelle Obama. The Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF),Christine Lagard , stood at number seven and the host Oprah Winfreyis on the 13. The magazine pointed out that the women on the list are, in combination, a total of 153 million followers on the social network Twitter. The only Spanish woman to appear in the list is Rosalia Mera, former wife of Amancio Ortega , owner of Inditex. Mera, the richest woman in Spain, is number 66 in the list of Forbes' ranking on a cornered by American entrepreneurs. For his part, the president of Argentina, Cristina Fernandez, has been dropped ten places in just one year, and Forbes currently ranked at 26. The youngest of this list remains the American singer Lady Gaga, who, at 27, is in position 45, while the oldest woman in the ranking is Queen Elizabeth II, who, with 87 years, stood at the number 40.
