A mob of about 3,000 people attacked yesterday the home of a Pakistani Christian named Savan, in Joseph Colony Lahore, accused of repeatedly insulted the Prophet Muhammad. The Pakistani press reported today. Led by Shafiq Ahmed, a Muslim intending to kill Savan, the crowd and 'poured into the area where they live 130 Christian families, burning and destroying the house Savan, absent, and beating his father, Chaman Masih.Blasphemy is an extremely sensitive subject in Pakistan – a nation of 180 million people, 97 per cent of whom are Muslims, and those convicted of defaming Islam or desecrating the Quran can face life imprisonment or even the death penalty.
