IRAQ | Shiite neighborhoods in the capital At least 63 killed and 200 wounded in a string of attacks in Baghdad

At least 63 people have died and 200 others were injured in a string of attacks in the east and south of Baghdad , in districts populatedpredominantly Shiite of the capital, according to health and safety services. These attacks came a day before the expiration of the tenth anniversary of the invasion of a multinational coalition, led by the U.S., to overthrow the regime of Saddam Hussein. Police sources said that at least 17 car bombs and two bombs exploded in Baghdad districts like Kazamiya, Sadr City, New Baghdad, and Zafaraniya Huseiniya. Sunni groups linked to al Qaeda have intensified since the beginning of this year's attacks on Shiite targets in a campaign to stoke sectarian tensions and undermine the government of Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki. "I was driving my taxi and suddenly felt a huge jolt. Was smoke everywhere and bodies strewn on the floor. People were running and screaming everywhere , "said Al Radi, a taxi driver witnessed one of the explosions in the district Sadr City. Although no group has claimed responsibility for the attacks, the Iraqi branch of al Qaeda , the Islamic State of Iraq, has set a goal to regain lost ground in the long war against U.S. troops, so that from early 2013 has carried out a series of attacks enormous impact. One of the most significant attacks took place last Thursday when a group of gunmen and suicide bombers attacked the protected Justice Ministry building in central Baghdad, killing 25 people on the spot.
