Hugo Chavez, Venezuela's president re-elected with 54.42% of the votes


The president of Venezuela Hugo Chavez has won the presidential election in his country with a 54.42% of the vote, compared to 44.97% of the opposition candidate, Henrique CaprilesThe president of the National Electoral Council, Tibisay Lucena, has indicated that with 90% of votes counted , the Venezuelan president, who achieved his third reelection, received 7,444,082 votes against 6,151,544 for Capriles, on a day with a record turnout of 80.94%. Thus, the Venezuelan president, architect of the so-called 'XXI Century Socialism', won his third term in 2019 and accumulated a total of 20 years in power, as he was first elected in 1998 and governed since following. The CNE also reported that participation in these elections was 80.94% , which makes this election day in the busiest of the recent history of Venezuela.
