At least 36 dead in a fire in a pyrotechnics in India

At least 36 people were burned to death and 75 were injured in a fire that lasted for hours today in a pyrotechnics factory in southern India, police said. Cited by IANS Indian agency, the sources explained that firefighters got late in the afternoon to control the fire, which had broken out around 12.30 local time (07.00 GMT). The flames swept almost the entire factory complex that houses the Siva Om Sakhti, located on the outskirts of the town of Sivakasi, in Tamil Nadu state. Some Asian country's media, citing unidentified medical sources, have been at fifty the number of dead. Police believe that in the next few hours could be more bodies in the rubble of the factory, which employed about 300 people regularly. Initial investigations suggest that the fire originated in a shed and then spread rapidly throughout the rest of the complex because inside was a large amount of flammable products. During the rescue efforts of the firefighting services were several explosions at the site. In Sivakasi occurs most of the pyrotechnic material consumed in India.
