U.S. approves new sanctions against Syria, Iran and Hezbollah

The U.S. government announced yesterday which will impose new sanctions against Iran, the Hezbollah Party in Lebanon and the National Petroleum Corporation of Syria. According to a statement issued by the Department of State U.S., the National Petroleum Corporation has provided Syria in April this year about 33,000 tons of oil to Iran, totaling 36 million dollars. This amount is much higher than the legal limit imposed by the U.S.. Therefore, the U.S. authorities decided to apply sanctions on Syrian company. According to the statement, the sanction against Iran is due to assistance provided by the country to the Syrian regime. Hezbollah already suffer the penalties of the U.S. Treasury Department for providing logistical support to the Syrian government.
