India: 14 year old father and brother killed because they refused her lover


A Hindu 14 years was arrested for allegedly poisoned and killed his father and brother because they expressed their opposition to her love with a lower caste boy, police said Monday. The young girl is accused threw poison on Sunday curry soup with vegetables, which then gave to her father and younger brother, who died shortly after a meal, according to police. The teenage mother, the Sunni Devi, explained to officers that he survived because he was ill and refused to eat. The double homicide occurred in the village Malpour, 75 km from Patna, capital of Bihar state in eastern India. "The young went to this extreme movement because members of her family, including her father, her brother and her mother had expressed their opposition to her love with a boy and his plan to marry him," said local police. The young man belonged to lower caste Indian under the complex system of social stratification in India, the Dalits or "Untouchables". This community, which lives on the margins of society and discrimination in education and work, often taking less, regarded as "unclean" jobs such as refuse collection and dirt. The family of the young, who belonged to a higher caste, had beaten the teenager when the couple had tried to thieves.
