At least 20 killed by an explosion at a funeral near Damascus


At least twenty people were killed Saturday in a vehicle explosion during a funeral in the town of Zamlaka on the outskirts of Damascus, Syrian opposition groups denounced. Local Coordination Committees and the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reported that there were at least twenty deaths from the outbreak, while the General Committee of the Syrian Revolution placed the death toll between twenty and thirty. The opposition organizations stressed that there are hundreds of wounded and many dead bodies still lying in the streets. The circumstances of the attack are still unclear: while the Commission noted that it was an attack by government forces and 'shabiha' prorregimen militants with a car bomb, the observatory said the vehicle exploded by the impact of a projectile mortar. The funeral was celebrated by the death of a citizen-government protests , identified by the Committees and Abdulhadi al Halabi.

Bombings in Duma and Arbin

The opposition groups added that the scheme on Saturday bombed the villages of Arbin Duma and in the vicinity of the capital , while in the nearby town there was a large shift Hamuriya citizens, amid the firing of those loyal to President Bashar al-Assad, fearing attacks by artillery. The Commission stated that Duma is being bombarded with mortars and white army tanks, military helicopters and shoot everything that moves in Arbin. Opponents also reported repression of the regime's forces in the central province of Homs and Deir Zur, in the east. The Commission noted that in the town of Al Rastan in Homs, men bombarded Al Asad drinking water reservoirs.

Dozens of deaths during the day

According to opponents, dozens of people died in various provinces of Syria, most shot by government forcesThe Commission noted that at least 66 people were killed, while the Observatory put the death toll at 42 and the Committees, 85. This information could not be independently verified because of restrictions imposed by the Syrian authorities to journalists to work. These events coincide with the Saturday meeting in Geneva, called Task Force to Syria , which agreed to propose the creation of a "transition government body" with the participation of Al Asad government and opposition groups, as key to the pacification of the country. In the Task Force involving China, Russia, USA, France, the United Kingdom, Turkey, the Arab League, UN and European Union. This Sunday and Monday are expected to opposition organizations to meet in Cairo under the auspices of the Arab League, to combine positions.
