Aung San Suu Kyi finally sit in Parliament
Members of the National League for Democracy (NLD) elected in parliamentary elections of April 1, gave up boycotting the Parliament, announced April 30 Aung San Suu Kyi. They will make their debut as members on May 2, ten days later than originally planned. They had refused to sit as they had to swear the oath included the phrase "protect the Constitution". But the authorities did not accede to their request - they wanted appears the phrase "respect the Constitution." The reasons for this reversal are not clear. Coincidence or not, her announcement came moments before Ban Ki-moon, Secretary General of the UN, takes the floor before the same Parliament. It is the first foreign dignitary to have been invited to speak before the deputies.
