NASA used a smartphone as a TV

On April 21 the NASA put in orbit three nano mission within PhoneSat, which actually was three smartphones HTC Nexus One. With them,  took high-resolution images of the EarthAboard the rocket Antares, Alexander Graham Bell (and have called these spatial smartphones) have fulfilled their part of the work towards developing high-resolution image of our planet .The project began in summer 2009 between the Ames Research Center of NASA in Californian base Moffett Field and the International Space University in Strasbourg (France). They also counted with the help of the community of radio amateurs around the world , and one of the goals was to see if it's possible to use smart devices everydaysimilarly to the instruments used in a satelliteSmartphones applied their integrated cameras to capture partial images of Earth hundreds of miles. 's mission ended on April 27 and showed that space exploration can be cheaper then building these "satellites" costs less than $ 10,000. But smartphones did not return to "home"As expected, disintegrated when they came into contact with the atmosphere. "During the short time that the spacecraft was in orbit, we were able to demonstrate the ability of smartphones to act as satellites in space environment" , said Bruce Yost , program director of small satellite technology for NASA. The images captured by the cameras of smartphones were transmitted in packets via a radio frequency signal . Hundreds of amateur collaborated decode the information from the satellites. subsequently rebuilt NASA Earth images in high resolution. Alberto Guillen , NASA engineer PhoneSat project participant, said the team hadreceived more than 300 packets of data in just three day missionThese are not the first smartphones that run through outer space . Earlier this year, British-made satellite called Strand-1 was put into orbit with a Google Nexus One with Android OS inside.
