The Saudi morality police will not close stores Valentine gifts


The Saudi morality police do not intend this year to close the gift shops and flowers on the occasion of Valentine's Day, as it has done in past years, as reported by the newspaper 'Al Jazeera'. The head of the Commission for the Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice (morality police), Shaykh Abdel Latif , told the newspaper they have no plans to close these establishments, but another will be watching for possible infractions they occur. In past years, the agency launched strict surveillance campaigns to florists and gift shops in the Valentine's Day to prohibit the sale of any product or red flowers wrapped in this color. The morality police, which is responsible for ensuring compliance with the strict Islamic codes that prevail in the kingdom, Valentine considered as a pagan holiday, the celebration is prohibitedIn Saudi Arabia, which follows a strict version of Sunni Islam , only allowed the celebration of Muslim holiday of sacrifice and Fitr, the latter at the end of the fasting month of Ramadan, while prohibiting any other holiday that is not listed in the texts of Islam.
