A mega blackout struck Pakistan during the night, leaving the dark all major cities', from Karachi to Peshawar, and sparking panic in the population. The power outage, caused by a fault on the transmission grid, hit different parts of the provinces of Punjab, Sindh and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. A spokesman for the Ministry of Energy told ANSA that the two hydroelectric power plants Mangla and Tarbela went haywire.
