The Iranian regime executed two men

Two thieves whose assault was recorded and uploaded to YouTube , were hanged in public . They were convicted of "waging war against God", a crime punishable by death. A 37 seconds video uploaded to YouTube in December and later broadcast on state television showed four hooded men approaching the victim on motorcycles, and then two of them attacking, taking her purse and jacket. One of the assailants seemed to be wielding a knife or machete. Alireza Mafiha and Mohammad Ali Sorouri were hanged in the early hours of Sunday in the Iranian capital, Tehran, according to ISNA . One of them cried on the shoulder of his executioner. The two accomplices were sentenced to ten years in prison and 74 lashes. They were convicted for the crime of " moharebe "or waging war against God, which under Iran's interpretation of Islamic law is punishable by death. His sentence was pronounced by a Revolutionary Court in late December. Iran has one of the highest figures in the world in terms of executions per year, according to Amnesty International, which has called on the Islamic Republic to commute the death sentences.
