Southern Sudan, "Khartoum has declared war on us"

The conflict over oil fields in the disputed border between Sudan and Southern Sudan is escalating. China, a major consumer of oil, calls both sides to show restraint. Sudan has declared war on his country, Southern Sudan President Salva Kiir said on Tuesday in the face of renewed attacks by the (northern) Sudanese Air Force on targets in the south. The conflict in which it is primarily about oil fields in the new, since July 2011 is the existing boundary was in the past two weeks has escalated dramatically after the South Sudan had occupied the disputed Heglig oil field. This belongs to an international view to the north. In parallel, the air attacks that had already flown to the north, occasionally in recent months have increased significantly. Last week it became a UN camp targeted. Sudanese President Omar al-Bashir had said in recent days, several times, the southern Sudan only understands the language of weapons. Interesting is the place to put forward his claims to the Kiir has: He spoke during an official visit to Beijing.China has always been an important ally of Sudan, because it is an important customer Sudanese oil - or was. Because after the first peaceful secession of southern Sudan before three quarters of a year, a majority of Sudan's oil reserves lie in the south. Of the rest, who remained to the north, was about half is in Heglig. Khartoum claimed to have defeated the South and forced it out. South Sudan occupied the oil field on April 10, in a move that coincided with waves of air strikes against its territory.

Syrian army not withdraw heavy weapons

Ahmad Fawzi, spokesman for the UN envoy and the Arab League, Kofi Annan, to Syria, said that the Syrian army did not withdraw heavy weapons from the cities as required by the Annan plan for a negotiated solution to the conflict. The plan of former UN secretary general wants the factions to commit themselves to respect a ceasefire to start negotiations between the government of President Bashar al Assad, and opposition movements. Fawzi has further alleged that Syrian security forces intimidated and in some cases may have killed people who had contact with UN observers deployed in the country. Nearly 60 people were reported killed in violence across Syria on Monday despite a hard-won ceasefire and the upcoming deployment of 300 UN observers to monitor the truce, a watchdog said. The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said on Tuesday a total 54 civilians and five soldiers were killed in various provinces.  Thirty-one of the civilians died in a government assault on the Arbaeen neighbourhood in the central city of Hama and 13 others, including women and children, died blast in the village of Jarjanaz, in northwest Idlib province. A total of eleven UN observers already deployed in Syria thanks to a cease-fire that should have begun on April 12, but is "extremely fragile," said Fawzi. "They are going into areas where conflicts have occurred as Homs and Hama and when they go, no noise of weapons," he stated. US President Barack Obama ordered sanctions and visa bans for companies and individuals providing technological know-how, computers or other equipment that help Syria and its main regional ally Iran oppress their people.

North Korea nuclear test will be ready "soon"

North Korea has almost completed preparations for a third nuclear test and may lead them "soon". He told Reuters a source of high quality which has close relations with Pyongyang and Beijing. "Soon. Preparations are almost complete", the source responded to the question if and when North Korea is planning to conduct a nuclear test. North Korea, last week, said he was ready to respond to the condemnation of the international community failed rocket launch this month, raising the possibility that it goes ahead with a third nuclear test despite UN sanctions. Many analysts expect that North Korea will for the first time try a nuclear device using highly enriched uranium, something it was long suspected of developing but which it only publicly admitted to about two years ago. Defence experts say that by successfully enriching uranium, to make bombs of the type dropped on Hiroshima nearly 70 years ago, the North would be able to significantly build it up stocks of weapons-grade nuclear material. It 's the first time that a source with knowledge of the intentions of Pyongyang confirms that the test will take place.
