Pakistan's IT talent Arfa Karim passes away at age of 16


She breathed her last after being in coma for over 26 days at CMH Lahore. Arfa had earned the certification at the age of 9. She died at the age of 16. She suffered an epileptic seizure that caused severe heart and brain damage. This ultimately led to a heart attack. She had been on life support. Arfa suffered cardiac arrest on December 22, and had been under treatment at CMH since. Microsoft had also arranged a team which was following her case closely along with Pakistani doctors. Her funeral will be offered in native city Faisalabad.

Haqqani issued 7600 visas to Americans unlawfully


Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani gave former Pakistani Ambassador to United States Hussain Haqqani authority to issue visas to Americans. PM’s Principal Secretary Nargis Sethi, on July 14, 2010 through a letter, directed the concerned departments that Hussain Haqqani can issue visas to US personnel recommended by US interior ministry without the prior permission of Pakistani interior department and Hussain Haqqani issued these visas until the Raymand Davis incident occured. Through a directive, scanning of diplomatic bags of US officials were barred on Pakistani airports on August 12, 2010. All the foreign diplomats and officials were declared immune from prior permission to travel in Pakistan. They were only bound to inform 48 hours prior to their travel but this restriction was also lifted from American diplomats and personnel on October 3, 2011 and they were allowed to go anywhere in Pakistan without informing the foreign ministry in advance. The documents also revealed that US Embassy ecquired 321 residences on rent in Islamabad and the Pakistani government was unaware about the residents, their designations and locations of these residences and neither any attempt was made even to know that. Also, Capital Development Authority (CDA) was not paid the taxes imposed on these residences.
