Violent clashes continue in Egypt

According to news agency AFP the supporters of Mohamed Mursi protesters succeeded in driving, since Tuesday, the draft Constitution and the new powers of the head of state. Later there were clashes with petrol bombs and stones while cars were torched and shots were heard. The opposition, mainly secular and leftist, who on Tuesday mobilized tens of thousands of people in front of the presidential palace in the Heliopolis district , had called on Wednesday new manifestations. Local shops closed their doors while the Mursi supporters began to erase the graffiti against President painted on the walls of the palace by opponents. "The people will clean the square ! "protesters chanted. The testimonies of the protesters show a deeply divided society, less than two years after the revolt that toppled the regime of Hosni Mubarak in February 2011. I'm here to defend democracy , the president was elected by the polls. Others fled because they can not resist our force, "said Wael Ali, a man in his forties friendly Mursi. On the contrary, according to al-Masry Nahed, a 32-year opposition, " the Muslim Brotherhood are challenging the nation , want to prove that their president has many supporters but are liars." Both the opposition and the ruling party called for new concentrations in downtown Cairo, so there could be new and more serious crashes. Meanwhile, despite the tension, the Egyptian vice president,  Mahmoud Mekki, announced Wednesday that it will keep the constitutional referendum scheduled for December 15.
