Deputy Foreign Minister sent letters of Syrian President Bashar Al Assad to countries such as Cuba, Venezuela and Ecuador to seek asylum for himself, his family and a close circle of collaborators . The Israeli daily Haaretz says that the Deputy Foreign Minister Faisal al Miqdad, held talks with officials from Cuba, Venezuela and Ecuador to deliver the letters of Al Assad. According to the Venezuelan newspaper El Universal , the Ministry of the country has confirmed the delivery of a letter to President Bashar Al Assad Hugo Chavez beforetraveling to Cuba to continue his cancer treatment. But Caracas sources contacted by Haaretz not explain what has been the responseof the Venezuelan president and only have claimed they were "personal issues between the two presidents." In recent days, violence has intensified Syria and the UN has decided to recall some of its staff "nonessential" and restrict movement of other personnel. Violence has intensified in Syria amid paralysis of mediation efforts, which have failed to end a conflict that began in March 2011 and has resulted in a civil war .
