Russia successfully tests new intercontinental missile

Russia successfully tested on Wednesday a new intercontinental ballistic missile capable of penetrating defenses antimisilísticas , announced the Ministry of Defence. The first launch of the missile took place on the platform of Plesetsk in northern Russia, the ministry said in a statement. He gave the name of the missile, and only said that was fired from a mobile platform. Russia has considered the planned missile defense system of NATO in Europe, led by the United States as a potential threat to its nuclear forces, and rejected U.S. claims the shield is intended to counter a potential Iranian threat. NATO has said it wants to cooperate with Russia on missile shield, but has rejected Moscow's proposal to operate jointly. Without an agreement of cooperation between NATO and Russia, the Kremlin has sought U.S. assurances that any missile defense is not directed at Russia and threatened to take retaliatory military action if no agreement is reached. The ministry said the warhead practice missile successfully reached a designated target on the Kamchatka Peninsula in the far east. The new missile will "strengthen the combat capability of strategic missile forces due to its ability to penetrate any missile defense systems," the ministry said.
