Bolivia hit by worst snowstorms

Bolivia has been hit by the country’s worst snowstorms in 20 years. Rescuers have been struggling to open roads and reach isolated residents. People are trapped inside their stranded vehicles. Government officials say 7,000 people have been stranded in total. The impoverished country is appealing for help from neighbouring countries in the form of aid, air drops and rescue efforts. Bolivia only owns two helicopters. Potosi, in the country s south-west, is usually dry and thus unprepared for the unusual snowfall.
